 Comparison and Analysis of Special Pupil Attainment

Your problem...

OFSTED now places increased emphasis on self-evaluation and requires schools to demonstrate good progress for their pupils with Special Educational Needs. To judge that a pupil's progress is good, schools need something to compare the pupil's progress against.

Historically, Special Schools and pupils with significant Special Educational Needs have never been well served by comparative data designed primarily to meet the needs of mainstream pupils and, without robust comparative data, schools can only make assertions about the progress of their pupils.

Our solution...

CASPA is a simple and easy-to-use tool to assist with the analysis and evaluation of attainment and progress of pupils with Special Educational Needs. CASPA makes available to schools the information that they need for self-evaluation and to drive school improvement.

CASPA provides schools with a rich set of comparative data to allow the bench-marking of attainment and progress for both individual pupils and cohorts within the school and presents analyses to meet the needs of all those who require access to such information.

What's new in CASPA 2010...

CASPA 2010 includes significant enhancements, increasing the ways in which CASPA supports schools.  For example:

  • Enter results termly, half-termly, or as often as you want and use this additional data immediately in CASPA's graphs and reports;

  • New and enhanced graphs and reports;

  • Changes to the main data entry pages enhance usability;

  • The Historic Data Utility has been merged into CASPA to simplify importing and editing data;

  • New import channels support our commitment to avoiding re-entry of data:
    - Pupil records via CSV file for schools without a school MIS and for LAs to create virtual schools
    - Results from BAREonline export file

  • New export channel exports current and historic data to an Excel spreadsheet;

  • An audit history that tracks changes to key data is now available to users;

  • Users who upgraded from earlier versions of CASPA can run CASPA 2010 as CASPA 2009 or CASPA 2008 (as relevant) to analyse progress for pupils on roll in that year;

  • Additional tools, guidance notes and help pages have been added to provide further assistance for users.

Welcome...

We hope new and experienced users of CASPA will find it a useful resource, both as an introduction to what CASPA offers and also as a source of help and guidance in the use of CASPA.
